Drug-Free Policy

California State University, Fullerton has specific policies related to the use of alcohol and other drugs. The unlawful possession, manufacturing, sale, furnishing without charge and consumption in a university workplace or residence facility of any dangerous drug, restricted dangerous drug or narcotic by any person is prohibited as a matter of campus policy. Federal regulations require that all recipients of and employees on federal grants and contracts acknowledge this policy and make a report to the campus if they are convicted of drug violations in the workplace. Educational materials and programs are available to employees. For additional information, consult Presidential Directive No. 1 and page 563 of the current University Catalog.

e-mail Accounts

Free email accounts are available for all members of the campus community: faculty, staff, and students. A student is issued an email account when he/she registers for classes. The email address is included in the registration packet that is mailed to a student. The account remains active for the duration of a student’s academic career. Faculty/staff accounts are available for full-time, part-time, or temporary employees. web graphic

To establish an email account, follow these steps:

  1. Ask the Department Information Technology Coordinator (DITC) in your department to complete the Information Technology  Request Form (ITRF). Complete instructions and additional information regarding the ITRF is available online. For the name of your Telecom Coordinator, check the campus-wide DITC List, or contact your department secretary or Telephone Services (714-278-2011). Your department's IT coordinator (DITC) will submit your technology requests to Telephone Services.
  2. When your account becomes operational, your department coordinator will be sent an email with your username, password, and Internet address. The turnaround time for this process is approximately three working days.
    To obtain assistance regarding your email account, send an email to helpdesk@fullerton.edu or call the Titan Help Desk at 714- 278-7777. During fall and spring semesters, Help Desk personnel are available:
  • Monday - Thursday: 7:30AM to 10:30PM
  • Friday: 7:30AM to 5:00PM
  • Saturday: 10:00AM to 5:00PM
  • Sunday: 12:00PM to 7:00PM

To access email from home faculty must have a Remote Access account . To establish an account send an email to helpdesk@fullerton.edu .

Additional information regarding using Titan Internet Access as an Internet Service Provider (ISP) is available online or by calling the Office of Information Technology at (714) 278-3921.

emergency and disaster information

In case of a campus emergency requiring police, fire, or medical assistance, use any campus telephone to dial 911 or use the blue emergency phones located outdoors throughout the campus grounds and parking lots. You will be connected with the University Police dispatcher. Be sure to explain the problem calmly, and give the location of the emergency.

All CSUF employees should know the following emergency information: (a) identify the location of fire alarm pull stations; (b) review both location and content of evacuation maps including an outside meeting area for your department or class (identify at least two exits from your location in the building); (c) review emergency procedures in case of fire, medical emergency, hazardous materials release, and earthquake; (d) invite any employees with special needs to contact you about specific requirements in case of an emergency and make appropriate arrangements; (e) identify the location of the nearest phone to use in case of an emergency.

In the event of a natural disaster or fire, remain calm and follow the emergency procedures posted in every building on campus. Do not use the elevators.

holidays and campus observance/schedule of holidays

The university produces an annual calendar of observed holidays, detailing when the campus is open or closed. The calendar is available on the Human Resource Services website.

Keys

All State Keys are issued through University Police. Key request forms must be completed by the requesting department with an "authorized" signature (a Department Chair, Assistant Chair, or Department Head).   Requests on Yellow card stock (for desk, cabinet and podium keys and buildings currently on the old key system) will be sent to University Police logged in, then forwarded to the Lock Shop to be filled. These key requests will usually be filled within 4 to 8 working days.

To check if your keys are ready, call 714-278-4308.  When picking up keys, individuals must present Faculty/Staff identification or picture ID.

keyRequests for keys to the gates or doors of buildings that are on the new system must be on the Blue card stock.  These requests will be completed by the requesting department with an "authorized" signature (Department Chair or their designee) and must be bought in person to University Police by the individual receiving the keys with picture ID and the keys will be immediately issued.

Keys can be picked up at University Police (Temporary Building T-1200) Monday thru Friday between the hours of 8am and 8pm.  Unclaimed keys will be returned to lock shop after 30 days.

University keys remain the property of the State of California and can be recalled at any time.  All keys must be returned to University Police upon separation.

Unauthorized duplication or possession of State keys is prohibited under the California Penal Code Section 469. Lost or stolen keys must be reported to University Police immediately. Locks which are not issued by the University lock shop may not be used on State buildings or equipment.

With your TitanCard Identification Card you may borrow books, periodicals, and other materials from the Library. Additionally, you can borrow materials from neighboring universities as well as the inter-library loan program which provides faculty and staff with access to library resources from all major universities in California and many libraries nationally and internationally. For additional information, contact the circulation desk on the first floor of the Library at (714) 278-2721.

lost and found/missing and stolen property

The main lost and found location is at the University Police Dispatcher’s Desk. Items will be retained at the lost and found until either claimed by the owner or placed in storage by the University Police. Items stored for at least six months will be offered for sale at public auction. To inquire about lost items, call (714) 278-2515.

Immediately after the discovery of the loss of State property, the person discovering the loss must notify the University Police by telephone, followed by a memo to the University Controller with a copy to Property Control. For additional assistance or questions, consult with the appropriate supervisor or manager in your department.

Parking

The parking program is a self-supporting enterprise funded entirely by user permit fees and parking fines. The parking program receives no state support.  Revenues generated enable the University to build, maintain, and monitor all parking facilities.
Parking permits are required to park on campus 7 am to 10pm, Monday through Thursday and 7 am until 5 pm on Friday during the Fall, Intersession, Spring, and Summer Sessions. Visitor 30 minute time zones (green curbs) are enforced during the time periods when permits are required.campus photo  Parking regulations in most areas across campus are enforced 24 hours daily. Permits are not required, though, on weekends or on holidays when University offices are closed.

Permits are available from the Parking and Transportation Services Office, located in T-1400. Faculty and staff must present a valid CSUF ID card and pay the appropriate fee. Employees in Bargaining Units 1-9 may purchase RESTRICTED Fall and Spring Semester and Summer Session permits. Non-represented employees may purchase NON-RESTRICTED Fall and Spring Semester Summer Session permits. If you purchase a permit later in the term, the cost will be prorated over the remaining period.

Lots C, F, H, I, and College Park Faculty/Staff are designated for Faculty/Staff parking ONLY.  Faculty/Staff permits are valid in any student surface lot (lots A, E, G, and S). NON-RESTRICTED Faculty/Staff permits are also valid in the Nutwood Parking Structure. Additional information and maps of all campus parking lots and facilities are available online on the Parking and Transportation Services web site.

In the event that an employee who has purchased a permit forgets it, they should contact Parking and Transportation at (714) 278-3082. The employee should be ready to provide the parking permit number, vehicle license plate number, and the description and location of your parked vehicle. Report all lost permits to Parking and Transportation Services, T-1400 at (714) 278-3082.

Employees who have locked their keys inside of their vehicle or who require a jump start may contact the University Police at (714) 278-2515 or use any blue campus emergency phone. Officers do NOT repair flat tires, provide gasoline or assist with any other mechanical problems. You must have a valid CSUF parking permit, your vehicle must be parked on campus and registered to you, and you must have photo identification available.

Guest parking permits for visitors to CSUF may be ordered on-line at: www.parking.fullerton.ed/permitrequest. Complimentary permits for guest lecturers in an instructional course must be ordered 3 business days in advance.  Additional information is available online on how to order Guest and Visitor Parking.

safety and security

Careful and thoughtful communication is the best tool to avoid a violent act or threat. Problems with and between employees and students should be resolved quickly, fairly, and consistently. Because the campus has a zero tolerance policy against acts or threats of violence, don’t hesitate to report all incidents to University Police from a campus phone at extension 2515 or Environmental Health and Instructional Safety at extension 7233. A report may also be submitted by filling out a Campus Safety Report at the following web site http://ehs.fullerton.edu/ehsforms/safety.asp.

Smoking

The university adopted a University Smoking Policy, effective April 3, 2003.
Smoking is prohibited in all University facilities. This prohibition extends to all buildings owned, leased or rented by the University or one of its auxiliaries, whether located on or off campus, to outdoor areas, including patios, balconies, and other locations signed as “No Smoking” and within 20 feet of any building, and in any vehicle owned, leased, or rented by the University or its auxiliaries.

Faculty, staff and students violating this Policy are subject to appropriate disciplinary action pursuant to the applicable collective bargaining agreement and/or administrative policies or procedures. Violations should be reported to the appropriate administrator, Environmental Health and Instructional Safety at (714) 278-7233 or University Risk Management at (714) 278-7346.

Employee Training and Development

Training and development opportunities are provided throughout the year to all eligible staff and faculty employees. Employee Training and Development (ETD), a department within Human Resource Services provided relevant, comprehensive and effective training classes and certificate programs in order to meet the dynamic and evolving needs of our employees and community partners.
